The people closest to the challenges are often closest to the solutions. Women’s Foundation makes grants to support nonprofit partners that improve the lives of women and girls, grounded in what communities are experiencing and what the data tells us is urgent. We invest to help effective work grow, strengthen networks of care, and expand what’s possible for women and girls across Central Indiana.
As Women’s Foundation of Indiana implements its statewide expansion, we will spend most of our time and resources in 2026 envisioning how we “answer the call of the community” through our grantmaking in 2027 and beyond. We will also be exploring how we can more fully integrate Trust-Based Philanthropy into our grantmaking.
Some funders cease making grants for a year as they make critical transitions. Women’s Foundation of Indiana has chosen to continue making grants this year - we are committed to standing alongside grantees who are key providers in our priority areas of Violence, Economic Security, Girls' Empowerment, and Health.
Grants will be made in two rounds:

Women’s Foundation’s grantmaking is rooted in Central Indiana, and we are thoughtfully growing our investments across the state.
Our existing endowment was built through the efforts of women and allies in Central Indiana, and we honor donor intent by keeping those earnings focused in that region. Endowment earnings fuel our annual competitive grantmaking round, and only organizations operating in Central Indiana are eligible to apply.
Our goal is to inspire philanthropists to invest in issues impacting women and girls across Indiana, with a long-term aim of building an endowment for every region. In the meantime, the Women’s Foundation is beginning to make limited grants outside Central Indiana through a separate funding pool, the newly established Indiana Fund. This fund will allow us to begin recognizing strong work and responding to urgent needs in communities across Indiana.

In addition to our annual competitive grants, Women's Foundation makes grants in support of strategic, mission-centered partnerships. One example is our support for a new statewide reporting beat on the health and wellbeing of women and girls, a strategic partnership designed to increase awareness and spark action on issues affecting women and girls across Indiana.
