New Reporting Beat to Elevate Voices of Indiana Women and Girls
On May 31, we joined together with Indy Maven, Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, and Free Press Indiana to celebrate the creation of a new statewide reporting beat to cover the health and wellbeing of women and girls.
Recently released reports from Women’s Fund and Girl Coalition of Indiana show disheartening outcomes for the physical, emotional, social, and economic health of women and girls in our state. We believe high-quality local reporting on the issues uniquely facing and impacting Hoosier women and girls is key to increasing awareness and driving collective action toward closing gaps and increasing opportunity for all.
“Women and girls receive just 1.9 percent of all U.S. philanthropic giving, so projects like this don’t get the support they deserve,” said Tamara Winfrey-Harris, President of Women’s Fund at last night’s event. “I hope you find that as unconscionable as I do, and you find the data that we know about the vulnerability of women and girls as unconscionable as I do—and that you will support this project.”
Stay tuned to learn more about the reporting beat.
