Indiana cannot thrive until women do.

Estimates from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics show that women in Indiana spend twice as much time as men each day caring for others, including those outside the home. It’s why we often find women at the heart of so many Hoosier households, communities, and even economies.

And yet, too many reports reveal persistent and urgent vulnerabilities in the health, economic mobility, and personal safety of Indiana women and girls.

As a newly independent and statewide organization, the Women’s Foundation of Indiana advocates in a nonpartisan way for better practices and policy at the local, state, and federal level.

Our five-step process

  1. Listen to community
We don’t act for women; we are led by them.
In its first year, Women’s Foundation of Indiana is holding 11 listening sessions statewide, including South Bend, Gary, Anderson, Lafayette, Franklin, Terre Haute, Bedford, Evansville, Jeffersonville, Indianapolis and Fort Wayne.
What we hear will shape our priorities for the future.
  2. Collect local and statewide data
Alongside women’s voices, good data can inform broadly effective strategies to improve outcomes.
Not every Hoosier region has access to good data about itself. We want to change that.

  3. Build Relationships
Outside of a phone call or email, not every Hoosier has the time to build consistent relationships with the legislators and leaders whose decisions affect our lives.
That’s why good relationships with both community members and community leaders are so important.
  4. Advocate for Effective Policy and Practices
Here’s where we put it all together!
We work hand in hand with women, girls, decision-makers, and organizations statewide to meet every Hoosier community’s unique needs, listening closely and collaborating passionately so that every woman and girl has the power, resources and freedom to live life on her own terms.
  5. Repeat
We invite everyone to join us—decision-makers, legislators, investors, and allies like YOU.

Share Your Experience With Us

Women’s Foundation of Indiana believes in listening to women, and we want to hear directly from women across the state about their lives and experiences. In 2026, we are conducting 11 listening sessions across Indiana, and we also invite women to use the form below to share their experiences, challenges, and celebrations with us.

While we are not able to respond to every submission, we do read every one, and what we hear helps inform our advocacy, research, and work alongside women and girls across Indiana.
